My 2018 Chevy Tahoe is a $60K plus vehicle. When I test drove the vehicle in the Spring, it was not dark when I conducted my test drive. I wrongly assumed that the low beam headlights would be at least good given the high price of the vehicle. Terrible assumption. I brought it to the attention of Chevy customer care - they offered no assistance whatsoever. The call was a complete waste of time. I contacted the selling dealer in late June and asked what could be done. I said "can we not install better bulbs?" The dealer's service department was very direct - we do not replace headlight bulbs as it may cause the headlight wiring to overheat, and the warranty would also be voided. I clearly communicated that my Subaru which cost considerably less than a Tahoe had substantially better head lights. It was like having a conversation with an end table. With 2 passengers on board, I am driving 3 tons of metal down the road. Even at 50mph at night on a highway, I am traveling 4400 feet per minute, or 73 feet per second. There would not be enough reaction time to safely bring the vehicle to a full stop, if a darkened car, piece of large debris, a deer, or a person were in the roadway at night while driving 50mph. This is a safety hazard that may cause or contribute to an accident. I like many of the features and the general build quality of the vehicle. Too bad that it has such poor low beam headlights.
