Trailblazer Vortex 4200

  • Automatic transmission
  • 151,184 miles

We was in bed & I heard a loud explosion right @ the house so I jumped up & looked around to see what it was. I didn't see anything @ the time I looked around but it was around midnight & I didn't see anything so I thought maybe it was a wreck up the road or something. The vehicle was parked facing me & I didn't think anything about something like that happening so I didn't go look at it. Then this morning when I was leaving to take my kids to school I noticed it. I checked all around it for anything that could of hit it & all inside of it for anything that could of flew into it & there was nothing but it had to of come from exploding because the glass flew all out all over at least a 10ft radius behind it. But from other complaints I've found it has happened when someone was closing it & has caused serious injuries. I have 3 small children that had just been riding in the back seat a few hours before & it could have easily have happened while they were in the vehicle or even when they had been out in the yard playing around out behind it earlier that day it could of happened then & seriously hurt one of them. This is a serious matter when it has caused serious injuries to others that have made complaints so I think there needs to be a recall on this & the problem needs to be fixed before it causes deaths if it hasn't yet & for those of us that have recently purchased the vehicle in the last few years that still owe on them we are stuck with them and I really wouldn't want to sell it to someone else knowing it could cause problems with them.

Trailblazer LT 4.2L I6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 109,000 miles

I lifted the hatch to place some items the the hatch just exploded right on my head. My hand was cut and glass was inside and at least 8ft away like someone blew it out from the inside. Can't drive now since rain and snow is coming. Have not got a quote or insurance involved but when I seen other similar problems I thought I should report mine.

Trailblazer LE

  • 44,000 miles

The tailgate binds and will not open all the way. I drove the trailblazer immediately to the dealer. Dealer says it will cost about $25. I get a ride back to work. 1 hour later the dealer calls me and says that when the mechanic opened the tailgate the glass window exploded into his face and knocked him down. They want me to report it to my insurance company. The trim, upper stop lamp and stuts need repair as well as the window. Will cost $2,600. This is the second time the tailgate has jammed on this vehicle and the second time it has been fixed. This is a dangerous design. It could have been me or the grandkids standing in front of this window when it exploded. Neither GM nor the Dealer admit any responsibility in this. My insurance company is going to have to pay for it all, not to mention a rental car for 1 week.
