Trailblazer LT 4.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,100 miles

For several months now when I start my Trailblazer the electronic 4WD switch which has 4 positions the switch can be turn to - 2WD - AWD - 4WD HI - 4WD LO. When you start the vehicle the 4 indicator lights go on and whichever position the switch is on has a small indicator light that goes on. Ive noticed that on several occasions that the lights fail to come on and then the SERVICE 4WD LIGHT on the cluster comes on. Seems like every time this has happened I was on my way to work etc and can never go straight to the mechanic. After the vehicle sits for a period of time and then when I restart the 4WD lights up as usual and the idiot light is off. Ive brought it to the mechanic and they have put on computer but it comes up negative. When this does happen the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT does not come on. The 4WD does not work when it is not lit up and the SERVICE 4WD is shown. Seems that when this happens the most it is raining.
