Trailblazer 4.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 77,671 miles

Paid $40,000.00 for this lemon. Part of the price ($3000) included a a 6yr 160000km power train warranty. I was under the blind logic that buying new (first time) instead of used, I was securing 6 years of comfort from vehicle repairs. What a joke. The transmission had a clunk within the first couple months. Did all the dealer warranty services etc. took a multitude of techs for drives. No one could tell me what the clunk was or how to fix. Everyone just kept saying that nothing was wrong, there were no codes present. For years I took it back, to no avail, everyone said we can't fix what isn't broken. Transmission totally failed at 125000 Kms. By that time it was past the 6 yr mark and no one would warranty it. Had a used transmission put in at a cost of $1200.00. The used trans had 85000 Kms. on it.

While driving down the highway one day, there was a huge bang and the rpms shot up and the truck started to decelerate. I pulled over on the highway and could only drive in first gear, had lost all gears but first. Had to drive on a 100 km highway at 40 Kms to nurse it 45kms back home. Very hazardous. That used trans with only 85000 Kms failed at 134000 Kms on my odometer so I only got 9000 Kms from that used transmission. I have spoke to 2 different dealerships and written letters to Gm Canada. Everyone says there are no issues or recalls on Trailblazer transmissions. What a joke, I know several people with same vehicle, same problems.

I have had cluster issues, window switch issues. This was a lemon vehicle, which is why I am sure GM has discontinued making it. Don't buy a used one. Be warned
