Trailblazer 4.2L V6

My wife was driving on the freeway and vehicle just shut down. How dangerous is that? Vehicle cranks but does not start initially make pinging type noise which leads to lack of fuel. A engine light came on separate from the check engine light, the owners manual says this light is for the Electronic Throttle Control malfunction. the light looks like a picture of the engine with an arrow pointing down. I ran a code scan and got a code p1516 meaning Commanded vs Actual TP Performance (TAC Module) I replaced the acceleration module on the pedal and it did nothing . Is it a recall?
