Trailblazer 6-cyl

At first, fuel gauge would read full after fill up. Then at 1/2 full mark, the gauge would slowly go down and read empty. Low fuel warning light would come on and alert chimes. After 2 wks it would read full after fill up but now it goes down to empty after 2-3 blocks w/low fuel light on and alert chime. Now it just registers at a low level fuctuating and triping the low fuel warning light and alert chimes (on and off) over and over again as I drive. There is no actual accurate reading from the gauge at all. I'm driving around by using the trip-ometer to determine when to fill up again. Too expensive to fix.

My fuel gauge meter doesn't work. When ever I start the car, the fuel meter drops to empty. Also, one day in summer of 2011, my driver-side power module just stopped working. The power windows and locks no longer work from my driver-side door. I am concerned I will run out of gas on the interstate or highway and cause a wreck. I also can not see in the mornings from my window because it gets foggy and there is no way to roll my window down. This is a serious safety hazard.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the fuel gauge light illuminated on the instrument panel and a warning alarm began to sound, notifying the contact that the fuel tank was empty. The contact also stated fuel had been recently added to the vehicle and the fuel tank was not empty. The fuel gauge reading would fluctuate from empty to full while driving at any speed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The vehicle was not repaired. There was an investigation under NHTSA action number: DP10001 (fuel system, other:storage:fuel gauge system), that may be related to the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000. 2007 Trailblazer fuel gauge reads empty even after fueling. Research shows it is a prevalent failure in this model. Monitoring the odometer is the only way to estimate remaining fuel. It can be dangerous not knowing correct amount of fuel remaining.

2007 Chevy Trailblazer fuel gauge quit working and constantly read "empty." This is my only transportation and this put me at risk both me and my family. Not knowing how much gas I have potentially put me at risk if I run out of gas while driving in heavy traffic or while on a trip. In the extreme heat it would be detrimental to have to walk to get gas. The risk of being stranded away from home or on a highway put my life in danger. The failure of the gas gauge and fuel detection unit occurred in January of 2010, which I couldn't afford to get fixed until recently, Feb. 2011. To fix the problem cost me a mortgage payment, and put me behind one month. The fact that this is a known and common issue for these vehicles makes it apparent that the fuel detection system is defective and fixing it should be the responsibility of Chevrolet. It is in the best interest of Chevy to issue a recall on the unit to maintain consumer loyalty to the Chevy brand. In the event I don't get reimbursed, I solemnly swear that I will not purchase another Chevy or GM vehicles. Needless to say, I'll tell everyone I know about this, and do what I can to sway them not to buy a Trailblazer due to this defect and the fact that Chevrolet won't even acknowledge that there should be a recall.

Fuel gage sending unit shows that the tank is empty when it is full. It will work normally between 3/4 and 1/2 full and then drop to empty and sound warning chimes as if it is out of fuel. This is a huge annoyance and it is very common. I know 4 individuals that own trail Blazer and all of them have had or are having this same problem. When talking to the dealership about this problem they told me that it is the number one problem among Trailblazers.

2007 Chevrolet trail Blazer - fuel gauge does not give accurate readings. This recently started. Fuel gauge will indicate that the tank is empty / give warnings, and then only need 7 to 9 gallons to fill the tank. Tank capacity is like 16 gallons.

The contact submitted an email and requested that the official IVOQ be written verbatim to the email: I have a 2007 trailer Blazer and had these problems for 2 years. Gas gauge would show 1/4 to 1/2 tank but ran out of fuel twice. Gauge shows empty all the time now. Service department said it's a bad sensor in tank and will cost $ $800 to fix. This has been a problem with GM for 3 or 4 years. 1,000's of complaints on different forums. The failure mileage was 30,000. Updated 09/27/11 updated 10/11/11

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel gauge indicator remains illuminated no matter how much fuel is in the vehicle. The gauge stated that there was a "low gasoline level". as a result, the contact is never fully aware of the amount of gasoline in her fuel tank. She called the dealer, but they refused responsibility for any repairs. The vehicle is still experiencing the failure and the contact believes that it was caused by a manufacturer defect. The failure mileage was 49,000 and current mileage was 62,337.

Trailblazer

  • 39,000 miles
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed on the instrument panel. When fuel is in the vehicle, the gauge indicates that the tank is full. However, after the vehicle has traveled between 20-30 miles, the gauge indicates that the tank is empty. The contact has not called the manufacturer about this issue, but feels that it is a safety issue because the amount of fuel in the vehicle is misleading. The VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 39,000.
