Traverse LS 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 300 miles

Purchased 2021 Chevy Traverse LS in May 2021. Within 100 miles, brakes started grinding loudly, but intermittently. Sounds terrible!! Called dealership within a week, was told it is an issue with the ceramic pads, which needed replaced, but are not available. Of course, not told this prior to the sale! :-( Four months later, I'm still waiting for service, and have called back, but there's no date known for parts to be available. I was told there was a TSB for this same thing on the 2020 Traverse. I'm told it is just an annoyance, not a safety issue, but as loud and as bad as it sounds, I really question the safety. I am making a formal complaint with GM, although not sure that will address the issue.

Update from Apr 17, 2022: Update: brake pads were finally replaced 6 months after initial purchase. I did contact GM customer service and made a complaint about the delay. They documented the complaint and contacted the dealership on my behalf. That lead to the General Manager reaching out to me and getting the parts ordered (not sure what was the hold up before he got involved!). Three weeks later the brake pads were in stock and installed (under warranty, no charge). Glad to say there are no more grinding sounds with the new pads.

Traverse LT

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,000 miles

Every morning when I leave my driveway, I hear the noise for about 10 miles. The noise is louder than my radio. I reported this to the dealer, they inspected the vehicle and explained that Chevy doesn't have a fix for this at the moment. It's been over 2 months and there's still no solution. At times, I'm scare to take my wife, children, and grandchildren in the car with me.

GM aware of issue and tech document pit5805b issued but no action from GM yet. They are too slow at resolving this issue.
