The issue is unknown, one mechanic said a short in wiring harness. I HAVE HAD MECHANICS TELL ME I SHOULD BURY THE VAN... IT IS STILL RUNNING AFTER 186K MILES, WHY CAN'T SOMEONE FIX THIS ISSUE!

Had the problem repaired by an experienced Chevy mechanic who assured me that the new sensor would fix the problem-not. Within a week the light started going on and off on a regular basis. It doesn't seem to affect vehicle operation but I was told it could hurt the catalytic convertor.

FLEX FUEL system related fuel trim code 1174 (Fuel trim cylinder balance bank 1)
My van started to give this code, along with having other poor fuel trim codes over a year ago.
I eventually found a leaking injector, but the ECU read this leak as added ethanol in the system due to the virtual (no-sensor) flex fuel system taking readings after fuel fill ups.
My ECU started to calculate my fuel trims based on a fuel mixture of 44% ethanol, when I was not using more than 5-10% ethanol. My region does not have ethanol above 10%.
I replaced my injectors with good non-leaking correct part number injectors and along with new oxygen sensors, air filter, manifold gaskets, wireset, plugs, MAF and MAP sensor. All sensors are reading correctly and now the vehicle is back to calculating ethanol percentage correctly. There is no physical issue with the engine or exhaust. Wiring harness to injectors is in good condition and the injectors are functioning correctly.
The van has always started and ran perfectly, drives great. Even when ECU was calculating 44% ethanol, it started and ran fine. Van has always had a lot of power.
BUT THE 1174 CODE WILL NOT GO AWAY
I have had a dealer reset the fuel trims using a GM Tech2 computer, and the code came back immediately after two drive cycles.
It does not seem possible for me to get rid of this code, it is always coming back. I am now considering an entire engine swap from the older 3.4L Venture.
