Symptoms similar to recall 07V349000. Smell of fuel accompanied by liquid on the ground. Inspection by mechanic indicates failure of fuel filler neck and accompanying inlet of the fuel tank itself. Unable to secure fuel filler neck replacement that fits, nor replacement fuel tank.

I have a leaking fuel tank. It is described perfectly in recall: 07V349000, GM recall # 06230. When I took it to the dealer, they told me because of higher mileage, it is not covered. I then called GM and they told me the same thing. How can you sell a vehicle with a defective part, put it on recall and then not fix it? I am glad I found it before my vehicle caught on fire!

The fuel tank leaks at the fuel tank, leak at the fuel tank filler tube attachment point to the tank. There is a rubber grommet on the tank that the tube attaches to the tank where the leak is. Defiantly a fire hazard. Leaks when tank is more than 1/2 full. This tube is metal and the fuel tank filler tube attaches to with a rubber hose and clamp. The Chevrolet dealer says the VIN was exclude from NHTSA campaign id number 07V349000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage), although the failures were identical. The dealer stated have to replace the fuel tank which not covered.
