headlights do not project enough light to see at night
I purchased this car for my wife, however the headlights do not project enough light to illuminate the road in front of the car. Today my driver side headlight went out completely, which I didn't expect considering its an LED and should last a lot longer than that.

Just bought the 200 and everything is great, but first time I have driven it at night and the dim lights are not save to drive in the dark country roads where I live.

The headlight illumination on the 2012 200 model is beyond poor - it is flat out dangerous. There is an extremely limited field of vision to the point where if you are driving on unfamiliar roads or rural areas without lighting you are forced to use high beam or go well below posted speed limits both which can prove to be hazardous to both you and other drivers. I have even had others drive my car and the first thing they say is no way would they be driving this car at night and several thought they didn't have the headlights fully on. I have taken this a step further and have registered complaints with both Chrysler (go to the official website and go to contact us) as well as the DOT NHTSA. Both have responded back via email so proof that both agencies are formally aware of my issue and concern. Chrysler has responded back with a case number and customer service rep that is supposed to contact me to discuss so we'll see if that actually happens. If you are having the same issue - register your concern!
Update from Oct 26, 2012: FIXED!!!!!! If you have the issue with lights on the Model 200 - I have a dealership that fixed the issue! While it may seem simple they did 2 things
1. Intensity test with another 200 on the lot for comparison
2. (AND this is the biggie) re-aimed the headlights, NOW this is where a lot of service departments may not go as far as they need to. When they go to re-aim they may stop when they meet resistance - they need to keep going Chrysler got involved as well and had the technician keep going and once he got past the resistance could adjust the aim -my headlights now light up the road - no curtain effect at all

Can't see at night with low beams. They need to be replaced with a two bulb system.

I am literally driving my future casket. I tried to ignore the problem as I did not do that much night driving since retiring. The field of vision when the low beams are on is very narrowed on the sides and very low looking outward ahead. I cannot see street signs as they are blacked out when I get near them by a black hallo from side to side obstructing upper view and the side is cut off. I literally feel like I am driving in a long narrow dark tunnel. When going down a hill the beams point to the ground right in front of me and not ahead at all so I cannot see ahead at all until my car drives up the other side. I am always slamming on my brakes at the bottom which is not good. Thus I slowly go forward till the car points upward and thus the beam shows a small distance ahead of me. When driving in the dark I have to drive with high beams on which blinds other drivers.How bad is that. Police ticket people for not dimming. Actually high beams only raise the black hallo line about 4 inches. I called the dealer 7-12-12 w/complaint as this is really getting to me since I teach classes at night. They commented that this is the way it is and probably nothing could be done. I called 7-13-12 and said I really needed an appt to document my problem. I have appt 7-14-12 at 8:30 to discuss this problem. Talked to Rick. I really am so proud of my new car as this was a step up for me since my Omni and Stratuses. I was so pleased with the nice features and had a good experience w/ all those who helped me at Federico's in Woodriver, Il. I feel that since Chrysler knew this for the 2011 models of Chrysler 200 that they are at fault and should make this transition of a resolution for me to have a SAFER CAR if they take responsibility for their product. I advise NO ONE to buy one unless they try the night driving. You are in for a scarey ride.

Low beam lights are unsafe to drive at night! They need a recall to repair.

If you do a lot of driving on back roads or 2 lane highways it is very dangerous. You can't see that well past 20- 30 feet in front of you on the dark roads. Chrysler really should change the headlights they use on the 200 ASAP!!!!!

car lights continues to go from dim to dimmer flash on/off
the electrical system is horrible. Not only does the exterior lights go from dim to dimmer. The sit very low and you can not see the entire street. Lastly ,the interior lights flash on and off while driving. It is very fearful because your not sure if your car is going to shut down on you. This need to be fixed. Lastly, i was told by the dealer that Chrysler brakes are known to squeak. That is unacceptable. I love my car. However, to continue to endure the problem is questionable.
