Started noticing last winter that the passenger side heat was non-existent. Air blowing strong but cold! Driver side was warm but my wife usually doesn't have anyone riding with her so we put off having it looked at right then; after all we had a great aftermarket warranty - so we thought.

Just a few days ago I rode as a passenger with my wife on a trip..my feet we absolutely freezing! I started doing some internet research and found that this is huge problem in Chrysler cars from about 2011 - 2014...several models. (Just search Chrysler no heat)

There are YouTube videos showing guys that have cut the heat core open after replacing it themselves only to find looked like it was filled with peanut butter - needless to say; not flushable. Only solution in every case was to replace the heater core and flush the anti-freeze, and replace anti-freeze.

The best explanation I've seen (don't remember which site) was that someone explained that the possibly the factory stated that the cars came with a specific type of anti-freeze when in reality... they put in a different type at the factory and when techs would top of with what they thought was the correct anti-freeze; the wrong one would cause the anti-freeze to gel. Another person suggested Chrysler was using a special additive when building the motors what reduced the likelihood of pin hole leaks? Direct from a former Cadillac mechanic - I know this to be an absolute fact involving certain engines from Cadillac.

Either way this is not the customers fault, Chrysler needs to recognize this as a production problem and start helping out all these people that are chunking out $1,200 - $1,800 of their own money. Do a recall or extended warranty for this issue. Oh, and the great aftermarket warranty? They said "Huh, we see nothing that's broken here so, sorry we are not paying".

I have contacted Chrysler Cares, but... I'm not holding my breath.

I have the same problem. I have heat on the drivers side but cool air on the passenger side. I took it to the dealership where I bought it and they said the heater core was partially plugged and the recirculation mode door actuator was failing. The door is stuck open. To fix and replace the door and the heater core would cost $1800 dollars. That's B.S. There should be a recall with so many complaints. I will never buy a Chrysler again!! I am going to ask one of my mechanic friends if they have a solution or if they can fix it for cheaper.

Never will I buy a Chrysler again. Bought this car thinking they were well built last October only to find out a month later when the weather got cool that the heater only worked on the drivers side and barely that. I tried to get by with flushing the heater core which did help a little for a few weeks. I did a little research and saw how expensive replacing it was going to be so I just left it in the driveway since I had another vehicle. However, that option is not available this winter so I am going to have to fork out $1000 to get it fixed. Amazing how Chrysler has recalled my airbag sensor 3 separate times, but they won't recall this even though it takes very little effort to find that this is very common problem and just as dangerous since its hard to see out of a fogged up windshield. I knew I should have stuck with a GM vehicle never had heater core problem out of my Chevy's a 1997 Tahoe (185,000 miles), 2002 Trailblazer (165,000 miles), 1999 Camaro (170,000 miles), or 2013 Camaro (70,000 miles). THANK YOU SO MUCH CHRYSLER!!!

So we have hot air on the driver side but "not as hot as it should get", next vent over middle of dash (closer to driver side) we have warm air, next vent middle of dash (closer to pass side) cooler air and then the vent all the way over on the passenger side cold air. "WTH" Is this the heater core or blend door? I took it to the Chrysler dealership and they diagnosed that its the heater core. They said to replace heater core with coolant fluid exchange it would take up to six hours and run about $1100 or flush heater core "with no guarantee" and coolant exchange would take about an hour and run about $380. Is this about right, any suggestions??? What to do, what to do!!!

I noticed that there was no heat on the passenger side in December, of all months. Junction Auto in Chardon Ohio took some of the interior of the car apart looking for a dead rodent in the car May of 2017. We were thinking that a hose or something had not been reconnected at that time. They did do a great job getting rid of the huge rat that died underneath the center column. I took the car to have it checked for the heating problem and they call and say it needs a new heater core. At only 68000 miles, I am not happy to replace a heater core especially with approximately $800 or $900 just in labor. I drove my little 2002 Saturn for 185,000 miles and didn't have to replace a heater core. First time I have owned a Chrysler and will probably be the last.

I also purchased the platinum protection package and have not found out what Fidelity is going to say once they come to look at the car. I will keep everyone posted. I have read that this problem has occurred starting around 2012 and having mileage between 38,000 and 50,000 miles. Unfortunately the factory warranty had expired and now I am hoping that Fidelity will cover it. It is a problem where there is machining oil in the system and when mixed with the factory anti-freeze it creates a sludge which fouls up the system requiring the heater core, oil cooler, radiator, radiator cap and requiring the system to be flushed as well which is estimated to cost of $2000. This is a know problem but not a recall item yet. I also call Chrysler Customer Care number to express my issues with my 200 heating problem. They said they are going to assign someone to review my problem and get back with in 24-48 hours. It has been 24 hours and nothing yet and will wait another 24 hours. I will keep everyone posted.

As others online have commented, I have heat on driver's side and not on passenger side. Heater core claimed to be the issue by others online and some type of stop-leak additive by Chrysler at the factory is the accused culprit for gumming up the heater core. My coolant reservoir showed signs of a gummy substance on the inside lid. I took this off and rinsed it with water as best as I could. I drained the engine coolant and used water and a radiator flush product in the system. This seemed to remove the stop-leak additive which was plugging up holes in the system b/c after using the radiator flush product the heater core started leaking fluid into the foot wells of the cabin. I have replaced the heater core; no leaks occurring. But, the issue of half heat on just the driver's side remains. No solution in sight. Also replaced the mode door and blend door actuators, but no change in the issues. Need help as to why this is occurring.

The heater works on the drivers side but not the passenger side. I took it to a dealer and they flushed the coolant and bled the lines. I paid 136.00 for this. When I went to pick up the car, the problem was not solved. So now they are thinking its the heater core?

Update from Jan 3, 2017: They fixed the heater core and so far no problems, but I complained that I smell antifreeze. I have been smelling this for 2 weeks now. Im thinking that it got spilled on something. If it does not go away I will take it back to dealership.

This needs to be a recall there are a lot of complaints on this! This is not our fault because it was made at the factory! I will never purchase another Chrysler again!! I have called Chrysler and no help!!! I am disgusted ! I used to love Chrysler but not anymore!

Update from Jan 26, 2017: Update on my previous complaint, I finally took it to the dealer , they have seen several Chrysler 200 with the same issue, I had to have the Heater coil replaced and the over flow tank , the cost of this repair was 1,067.62 I am hoping I will not have any more issues, on the good side I have heat now but the bad side is, my car is only 3.5 years old and I have had to put this amount of money in this already !
