My check engine light came on around Dec 7. Looked at the manual and it said it was not an emergency, to drive through a few cycles and if persisted, to take it to get diagnosed. About 1 week later, while driving on the highway, the thermostat light and electric throttle light illuminated and two messages flashed on the screen: "Engine Temperature Hot" popped up and "Service Elec. Throttle Control", the the temperature reading blanked out at 0. The vehicle seemed to be driving as normal.

I pulled over and turned it off, checked under the hood and it did not seem overheated at all. Restarted and the lights where gone, Check engine light remained on. Took it to have the code read = P0128. Spoke to the mechanic and he said it was a thermostat and that he has seen this issue in the 200s and thought there might be a recall, he recommended taking to the dealer. It has been hard to get an appointment. It seems as though when outside temperatures are really cold, it comes on more frequently, but I simply power off and on and it seems to solve the problem temporarily.

The car is less than three years old and only has 68,000 miles, the car is well maintained, there is no reason this should be happening.

Update from Jan 3, 2018: Took it to the dealer and they said the engine was not reaching the desired temperature. The error message said the Engine was too hot so I am not sure why that message appeared, when it wasn't getting hot enough. They replaced the thermostat for just around $315 ($28.50 for the part, $22.50 for the antifreeze, and the rest in labor, with a 15% coupon)
