I have a 1999 Chrysler 300M. On July 23, 2005 I was informed by the local Chrysler dealership that the rack & pinion was badly rusted, and that one of the rods was completely broken! this car only had 62,000 at the time and was not used a a commuting car, and was treated very well. Simply put, this should not have happened, given the age of the car and it's use. In addition, the service manager that I dealt with said that they had seen several 300M's come in with the exact same problem. I do not live in a climate where we get snow, thus no salt on the roads, and I am not near the ocean. Based on this, as well as discussions with the dealership, it appears that this is a defect, one that cost me $2300, conveniently 1 month after my warranty expired. Also, according to the dealership, the rusting occurred over a long period of time and would have affected tire ware. This explains why I went through 4 tires in the past year. Luckily, this problem didn't cause me to get into an accident, but this potentially could end up being life threatening for someone else!

Consumer was putting air in tires, cleaned them, and by night all the tires were flat. Dealer said there was nothing they could do.manufacturer has not been contacted yet.

The original set of tires was losing air slowly. Independent shop replaced the entire set. Consumer noticed the same problem with the new tires as with the original tires. Vehicle was taken back to the independent shop, and technician determined that inside metal on all four tires separated, as result, will never keep the air properly.

I have replaced 7 Goodyear tires on my 1999 300M as well as one chrome rim (several serious blowouts). The driver & passenger window motors required replacement. Have mysterious 2 inch dashboard crack near passenger side airbag. Replaced sensors (crank case?). chafing wires cause unexpected stalls & failures. Local dealer trying to diagnose current problem-car stalls after shift into drive. Afraid to keep a car with only 42,000 miles. Love the look & room of the car but may be too dangerous to risk stalling on a highway at 65mph or missing an interview.

Initially in May 2002, I had to replace a rim on my 1999 Chrysler 300M because it had cracked due to corrosion (this is what I was told by the technician who discovered it). Now, in 2003, three of the four tires are leaking air to the point where they need to be refilled every week or two. When contacting the service center where I had the work done, they advised me that the 300M & Town & Country mini-vans seem to be experiencing the same type of problems as I'm describing.

Goodyear Eagle ls tires on 1999, Chrysler 300M. At 18,000 miles, vehicle began experiencing vibration which was due to tread separation on front right tire. Then, at 22,000 miles, there was a bulge forming on sidewall of front left tire that was approximately 2-3" in diameter. Tire size is P225/55R17. While the consumer was driving at 65 mph the third tire on rear right blew out sidewall at 29,000 miles.

Tires are worn excessively, all 4 tires affected. Tires according to Goodyear should last between 20000 and 40000 miles. Goodyear Eagle tires, dot nk43bmdr199, 17 inch tires, consumer states spare tire is also worn. Goodyear states that tires are not the problem, vehicle has vibration and pulls to the left, could be suspension or tire related. Engine failed due to pistons too close together, consumer states ever since vehicle has been repaired, it does not run normal now. Rotors were replaced, brakes resurfaced.

Consumer has a Chrysler vehicle. 2 original front tires were replaced because they wobbled/vibrated & pulled to right. Every 3,000 miles outsides wore out, 7 had to be replaced. They all showed signs differently. Chrysler was aware of tires. Originals had premature balding & hydroplained. Size P225/55R17, dot#M600bmwr3400. Wear of tires could be related to a suspension problem, tires are Goodyear Eagle.
