The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler 300. While driving approximately 25-50 mph, there was a sudden loss in the power steering. The contact maneuvered to the side of the road and noticed the serpentine belt disconnected. The serpentine belt was reconnected in oder to resume driving. The failure recurred twice while driving to his destination. An independent mechanic was notified of the defect and they informed the repair kit was unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.

Hello. I have a 2000 Chrysler 300M and it has not been reliable enough for me to drive for about a year now. It will periodically decrease in speed and just stall. I have taken it to about five shops including the Chrysler dealership, and noone knows what the problem is. I researced online to see if I was the only one having this probelm with my car, but there are hundreds of others with the same vehicle, and same problems. They have also taken their vehicle to many shops including the dealer, and noone knows what the problem is. I wanted to contact you first to see if there is anything you can do to help me. I contacted Chrysler via E-mail about a month ago and I am still yet to hear anything back from them. I have put so much money into this car for shops to try to fix the problem, and I even had to pay diagnostic fees to a Chrysler dealership, and others when they have not been able to diagnose it. This is absolutely ridiculous, I feel this car should have been a re-call, with as many people having the same exact problem, that we call the "enginestall". please contact me back as soon as possible. Thank you for your time!

The crank shaft pulley failed and caused the drive and V-belt to separate from all remaining pulleys. Among other things, I lost power steering traveling at 65 mph on the interstate. It was fortunate I was not travelling on a curvy country road or I probably wouldn't be alive to write this report. As it was it took a lot of strength to be able to steer the vehicle clear of the roadway. The parts distributor told my mechanic they were shipping an average of 55 replacement cranshaft pulleys a month.
