problem #1

The A/C / heater blower/fan stayed on full blast. This car has automatic environmental controls so the temperature would automatically adjust (mix the A/C with heat) to keep the car at the set temperature, but the blower stayed on full blast all the time. Even if I hit the "off" button, the controls would shut off, but the fan still stayed on. After extensive troubleshooting, I chased the problem down to one of two culprits. The control head itself (around $300) or the blower motor resistor module ($170). Neither part was cheap and since they are both electronics, I would not be able to return them if it did not fix the problem. I weighed the options and prices and decided to go with the resistor module, problem solved! I gave myself a well deserved pat on the back. There is a much longer version of this story (to include my extended warranty company going bankrupt), but this is the short version.
