The contact owns a 1999 Chrysler Concorde. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle shut off and stopped in the middle of the freeway. The contact was able to maintain control of the vehicle, although the brakes and power steering failed. Someone had to assist her with steering the vehicle to the side of the road. The police was called and the vehicle was towed to the auto repair shop. There had not been any engine failure prior to this incident. The auto shop stated that engine sludge coated the engine. It would cost $5,000 to replace the engine. The failure mileage was 60,000. Updated 2/23/09 the passenger seat belt was difficult to unfasten and the rear passenger door had to be opened from the outside. Updated 02/26/09.

This is the message that I sent to Chrysler corporation on 4/8/2003. I am having a problem with the items below. The car is a 1999 Chrysler Concorde lxi. I purchased it used Sept. 2002. I currently have 46201 miles on the car and by looking at the information on you website see that I am not the only individual to have these problems. My rear driver's side window is not working. It worked when I purchased the car, but now it doesn't even go down. I am having it replaced, but am not happy that a car only 3 years of age has such a problem. I have already done my research and have realized that I have purchased a car with numerous problems. Also, the front passenger door lock mechanism (actuator) also has to be replaced. It is currently making a very loud pitched noise when activating the locking feature. The unlock doesn't make the noise. I would appreciate a response about this information. I will also be contacting the NHTSA about these issues so they are aware of them. When at the dealer today, 4/8/2003, the service person said that the door lock mechanism has been a consistent problem. I really don't think that I will be purchasing or persuading an individual to purchase a Chrysler product. Sincerely, [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Brakes continuously lock, which causes tires to lock and the car skids and pitches forward. Our door locks are broken and the bottom portion of the back seat is coming out from the floor. When we purchased the car, we asked the salesperson (tim white) if the car was in good condition and if this was a rental car. He said" it had one owner." When I repeated this to the manager last week, he said it did. He stated that the owner was the rental company in Florida. Then I pointed out to the manager that one owner did not mean one driver. With it being a rental car it has had many drivers some not so careful as others. If I had been inforrmed of the cars true history and condition, I would never have purchased this automobile.( dot number: )
