problem #1

Jun 012005

Concorde LX 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles

Standing at a red light, the car suddenly accelerated to full throttle. With my foot on the brake I could not stop the car from accelerating through the intersection striking another car, and continued through the intersection towards a concrete wall. I finally put the car in neutral, the engine rpm surged and I turned the engine off.

At the time of the accident, I could not find any similar issues on the internet.

After the car was repaired, the car did the same thing a couple of times. I was able to avoid future accidents by immediately putting the car in neutral. I was ultimately able to track the issue to the cruise control module. Once I replaced that, it never happened again.
