My front windshild wipers stopped working. I took it into the Chrysler Dodge dealership, jackson mi and found the tipm, totally integrated power module was defective and needed to be replaced at cost of $906. I found on the internet this is a common problem on Chrysler. It is at the dealer getting repaired. I feel a recall of this is needed. If you are out driving and the wipers go out you are in big trouble. Just lucky we were in town and not on the expressway.

The NHTSA has previously issued recall campaign #07V149000 regarding the quarter glass on certain PT CRUISER separating from the vehicle. Recently, one of the quarter windows on my PT CRUISER would leak while during a rain or going through the car wash. While I had the vehicle at a Chrysler dealership body shop for some minor paint work, I had them look at the window leak. They removed the window and discovered that (2) of the (5) mounting studs that secure the glass to the vehicle body were pulling loose from the molding around the window. The glass had to be replaced which cost me $350. I had contacted Chrysler corporation customer assistance for possible reimbursement for this expense. Chrysler corporation denied my request for reimbursement stating that my vehicle was not covered under the recall. As the owner and operator of the vehicle, and this window being a non-movable piece of glass, there is nothing that I can do during the normal operation of the vehicle that would cause the glass mounts to fail. The only other way that the mounts can fail is from a defective design or installation issue. My vehicle was made just one month outside of the recall period. How can Chrysler corporation be so sure that all of the defective windows were removed from their assembly plants, and did not make it onto my vehicle? if the glass separates from the vehicle, it could cause serious damage to another vehicle or injury to a pedestrian. I maintain that Chrysler corporation should expand the existing recall and replace possible defective quarter windows on other PT CRUISER. Chrysler corporation won't release to me information on how they changed the window design or installation process of the quarter windows, stating, "...the information you are is seeking is either unavailable considered proprietary; therefore, we are unable to assist this customer with their request."

Wife left house at 4:45pm (near dusk) during rain. She got 2 1/2 miles away, phoned and said wipers on 2006 PT CRUISER had stopped working. Went to meet her on side of road and drove car back to house, her in front of me with our flashers on, while the rain had slacked, but not completely stopped. The wipers will come on very slowly and eventually stop, if I jiggle the wiper control and turn signal at the same time. I've checked the internet and it seems like this is a common problem for this vehicle. I do believe this warrants a recall, as this could lead to a very serious or deadly accident. I don't know how many complaints it takes before something is done, but it needs to be done soon. I haven't taken this car to a mechanic yet as we have our old Ford pickup to drive on rainy days, thank god!!!!!

I was driving down the interstate at about 75mph surrounded by traffic when suddenly the windshield wiper blades stopped working and I had zero visibility. After I managed to get off the road, they started working again after about 2 minutes.

The front passenger window of my 2006 PT CRUISER spontaneously (?) exploded, sending shattered glass into my car while I was driving through a residential neighborhood at about 25 miles per hour on a very temperate night. I had just stopped at a stop sign, and was getting back up to normal speed. There was only one loud bang, and I heard no other sounds. There were no cars beside me, and I did not see any activity out that side of the car that would account for a pebble being thrown, or a bb gun being shot, etc., although it was dark out. In fact, I believe I was driving past a vacant lot. The inside temperature of the car and outside temperature were about the same, at about 65-70 degrees. I did not find any foreign objects while cleaning the glass out of my car. Only a few pieces of shattered glass were left remaining around the edges of my window, but otherwise the window was completely gone. Sharp pieces of glass were mostly in the floorboard and front seat of my car, although some did fly into the back floorboard. There were a few pieces of glass in my cup holders in the center console, and at least one piece made it over to the driver's side. My arm was cut very superficially in one place.

Over the past three weeks the front wipers have been working intermittently, this morning they stopped completely. They froze in the on/up position blocking my view while driving. They did creep their way down and are currently stopped about 1/4 of the way up on the windshield. I am concerned that they won't work on one of our many rainy days in Oregon, luckily today is a dry day.

Last winter the rear windshield wiper quit working completely. Now the front windshield wipers will not work on high and when they are turned on high, they just stop in the middle of the windshield. Sometimes when I turn them off they will go all the way down and then about 1/4 of the way back up and just stop. I am concerned that I will not be able to see out the back window and that the front wipers will completely stop when I am driving. I will not be able to see and it will risk other drivers and people during hard rain or snow. I have read many complaints about this and some cannot even drive the vehicles. I have checked the fuses, replaced the blades, made sure there is washer fluid and had a mechanic tell me that he has had complaints of the same thing. When the motors are replaced, the wipers still do not work.

I was driving my 06 PT CRUISER down the freeway at 65mph when I heard a whistling sound. I looked in my review mirror is time to see the rear quarter stationary window fly off and bounce across the lanes. Luckily it missed the cars behind me. It was like the other descriptions form NHTSA #07V-149. The recall ended with 6T230885 manufactured 9/1/05. My car was manufactured at the same plant, and was manufactured in 10/05. I believe that it and others need to be included in the recall.

1- vehicle = 2006 Chrysler PT CRUISER touring. 2- weather conditions = raining 3- vehicle failure = windshield wipers became inoperable with out warning and would not work in any selected position. Vehicle had to be driven home in the rain without the use of windshield wipers. 4- customer initially replaced the wiper switch initially with no results, wiper motor was not receiving operational current 5- vehicle had to be taken to the dealer for diagnostics (special equipment required to test), failure was found in the totally integrated power module (tipm), the controller for all vehicle networked electronics, including safety devices such as windshield wipers. Dealer replaced the tipm and the wipers regained operation. Cost of the repair $833 us.

I have an 2006 chry PT CRUISER. The front wiper power module has gone out on the front windshield wipers. So when it rains I cannot use my front windshield wipers at all when I drive cause they do not work and it is very hard and dangerous for me to try and drive without them.
