PT Cruiser 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,000 miles

The seat belt light & airbag light flashes and that I can take, but the constant chime drives me crazy. Also the worry that the airbags may not work is a large concern. This problem existed when I bought the car in 2009 when it was only 2 years old and only had 44000 miles on it. I can't say when it started; just that it was that way when I got it. Thanks Chrysler that is one more reason to buy a Ford next time.

I reported this problem to Chrysler Customer Service. In Kansas, this problem with the restraint system would be covered under their lemon law! Chrysler just responded that there is no recall on this part. I thought the problem was fixed. NOT! The dealership replaced the seat belt unit. I told the service manager after the fact that I didn't think that was what caused the problem. Well, it wasn't. After one week, the stupid chime and light started all over again whenever there is a passenger in the seat and it doesn't matter what weight that passenger is. My husband weighs about 350 lbs and it goes off with him sitting there as well as if I do and I weigh 140 lbs.

This is just not right. Someone will die because the airbag didn't deploy and then Chrysler will recall the darn things.

I really like my PT despite its bad gas mileage and now this but I really am upset that the problem was not fixed and that I have to take it back to the dealer again!
