problem #1

Jul 202016

PT Cruiser LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,000 miles

My 2010 Pt cruiser, I bought, in May 2015 and am mostly satisfied with it EXCEPT the braking problem.

I have on several occasions been driving my PT cruiser and while in motion I applied the brakes. I noticed that my car was trying to accelerate. Not being able to feel the difference I had my size 11 mens foot on both the brake and accelerator. I have been driving since I was 12 years old and never once has this happened, in any vehicle over those many years. This has happened in my PT cruiser about 6 or 7 times now.

I took a closer look at the arrangement of the foot pedals. THEY ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER TO BE SAFE. Whom ever designed them was negligent to that face.

After looking at the foot pedal arrangement it appears that possibly a brake pedal with a thicker pad might solve or help the driver stay of of danger. I suspect there has been crashes due to the misplacement of the foot (brake - accelerator) With my experience I came very close to crashing into a building, a light pole, parked vehicle, and more all due to the pedals being located too close, and easily covered by my foot.

please do a recall to fix it soon or someone might get hurt or killed, not to mention the vehicle damage that would result from a crash.
