Pacifica 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,230 miles
2004 Chrysler Pacifica: Ignition switch failed to engage the starter on the first attempt to start. Second attempt would engage the starter. This scenario continued for one week. Eventually the ignition switch failed to engage the starter completely, which left me stranded. Ignition switch, and ignition switch housing had to be replaced due to a portion of the housing breaking off inside the switch. (defective part is available)

On at least 3 occasions since purchasing a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica as a used vehicle in Jan. 2005, my husband or I have inadvertently hit the ignition switch with our knee and turned off the engine while driving. One occasion while we driving on the highway at 65 mph when my husband moved his foot from the accelerator after turning on cruise control. The other two incidents have been at low speeds in our neighborhood while moving foot from the accelerator to the brake pedal. Design defect that needs to be corrected.
