problem #4

Sep 052006

Pacifica Touring

  • Automatic transmission
  • 26,000 miles

Car kept stalling without warning, Chrysler couldn't fix it and bought it from me while leasing me a new 2006 model which I had no problems with, I obviously lost out on the whole deal and went Japanese after the whole ordeal was over which went on for 6 years.

Pacifica LX 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

Car quit on interstate even though no engine light came on, no knocking, no noise, no smoke no "nothing"! Car towed to dealer and was told though all fluids fine there must be something wrong with how oil is getting to the engine. No help from dealer or corporate Chrysler. Estimated cost to repair $5000 plus. We purchased the car from my mother so we knew the history and we always made sure oil etc maintained so quite a shock to be told to sell it for parts.

Pacifica

Even though my wife and I bought this car at a used car dealer it drove just fine. The dealer had no idea at all if there was anything wrong with it. So when we accelerate the Pacifica starts to shutter. the more you push the gas pedal the harder the shutter and sometimes it stalls even when we sit at a complete stop. Sometimes it makes it difficult to pass other cars on the highway or in town. check engine light is on. Took it to our mechanic and the check engine light was an exhaust problem. can't figure out what this problem with the shuttering. If anyone has any ideas any info would be helpful. I'm not very mechanical person. I'm really frustrated. Thank you!

I have not found problem but wonder if it could be the throttle position sensor. Would appreciate any help.

Update from Jul 7, 2012: replaced the throttle position sensor. works fine now
