Pacifica Touring 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

While picking my daughter-in-law up from work, the check engine light came on and the transmission wouldn't shift. We were about a block away from home so I was able to get in into the driveway. My husband has a hand-held diagnostic tool and it gave a code indicating that there was a transmission fault. He was going to call around the next day to get prices on getting it rebuilt or replaced. The next morning at work I was searching the code on Google and reading how others had experienced the same issue and that replacing or rebuilding the transmission had not fixed the issue. I searched around a little more and found out that a few people who have had the issue figured out that the alternator was bad and the their transmissions were fine. I called my husband and told him what I had found out, so he had the alternator tested and it was shot. After it was replaced the issue was resolved. I'm glad that we figured it out before sinking a lot of money into a transmission. The code was P0700.
