I went on some errands before going out if town. I noticed I might need a wheel alignment soon and I parked the car in my garage to go out of town. When I returned to go have it checked out, I noticed my front driver side tire was flat and a closer inspection, it had a tear. Then I noticed my other front tire was flat as well. I had two people tell me my subframe was badly rusted. I found out this was a known problem with Chrysler Pacifica but no recalls. This could have been a horrible accident for my daughter and I. We had been on the highway! By the grace of GOD we made it home, but the car is not driveable. Then came COVID and here I am, still without a car. Chrysler said they don't do recalls. This should not happen. Unfortunately, I don't know how long this was going on, no one mentioned anything at oil changes or when I got 3 new tires, etc. I don't have photos and just lost and frustrated this happened.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving various speeds, the vehicle made a loud rattling noise and began to shake and shimmy. An independent mechanic stated that the motor cradle and the subframe were severely rusted and corroded. The contact stated that the independent mechanic was able to place a hand through the subframe. In addition, the rear passenger side wheel protruded outward at an angle when the brake pedal was depressed due to significant subframe damage. The contact described the rear passenger side wheel as "rolling back on itself". mcdonald Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram big rapids (14061 northland drive, big rapids, Michigan 49307, (231) 796-2651) was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 246,000.

My vehicle has extensive cradle rot underneath the carriage which causes the car to shake and has the possibility to have the motor drop out of the car, I was having routine maintence completed on my car when I found this out. I called Chrysler and although hundreds of complaints have been filed no recall has been issued on this matter.

A few weeks before this happened, I noticed my rear tire leaning outward. Took it too the shop a few times wondering what was the cause. It was determined from a dealership it was the struts. I was told the Pacifica was known for it. So I had the struts replaced. It helped but the tire was still leaning, it wasn't perfect like the rest. I was told that there was no other reason because everything looked good underneath and suspension. I looked several times, myself. Not seeing any major rust or anything unsafe. Then driving on the freeway 150 mile's from home, at 70 mph, a hard bang and the rear end lifted up and dropped down. Car uncontrollable. Finally able to stop and realize the subframe dropped right out of the car leaving my rear differential on the ground. It had rusted from the top of the subframe down. Looked on line and seen it was happening to other people. Called Chrysler was told my problem. Hence my first american made car and my last. Pos!!!

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while having maintenance done on the vehicle, the technician advised that the front passenger and driver side tie rod did not have any grease fittings. As a result, both tie rods needed to be replaced. In addition, the contact mentioned that all four wheels were corroded causing air to escape. The vehicle was taken to the an independent mechanic. The technician decided to use a power brush to clean the wheel and applied a rubber sealant. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 22,000. Updated 5/9/13 the right and left outer tie rods were replaced.
