This is one of the most garbage cars I have ever purchased in my life. I brought this vehicle and immediately began having problems. The vehicle would absolutely not start up in the colder temperatures, on a daily basis I had to open the hood and change the switches around in order for certain other parts of the car to work i.e., signal lights etc. If I was able to get the car started which I had to do by battery charging upon reaching my destination the car would no longer start again. When it would rain outside the exterior of the car was so cheaply made that the car would not start. I would not recommend and/or suggest any purchase this vehicle as I got rid of it.

Bought the 2001 Sebring convertible for a fun summertime ride. Bought it used with 81K. Drove it around town with no problems. Only thing wrong at the time was broken clockspring in the steering wheel causing the airbag light to stay on. Intended on fixing it as a weekend project. Took the car on a trip out of town (240 miles roundtrip). Car ran perfectly to destination. On the Interstate coming home, was in passing lane doing about 70. All of a sudden, without any warning lights coming on, the car died. Was able to drift to the side of the road without being rear ended by a semi. Car would not restart. Had to have it towed home. That cost $320, but luckily insurance covered that expense. Several mechanics told me that it sounded like the battery shorted out. Said that is notorious in Sebrings. Replaced battery (which is in a ridiculous location). Car started. Only issue was the speedometer still stuck at over 120 mph. Tested the car down the road and it seemed to run fine. Shut the car off. Tried starting again and it fired right up. Put the car in reverse and backed up 10 feet and the car died again. Car acting exactly like it did when it broke down on the highway. Now paying tow truck to tow it to a Chrysler garage. After reading all the comments, looks like I wasted 5 grand on piece of crap. Sure doesn't sound like it going to be an easy fix. Never did like Chryslers before. Should have stuck with my gut instinct and steered clear of the Sebring.

Used AAA to replace battery 3 times, Took to dealer 3 times and is currently @ mechanics. No one KNOWS what to do! Car died today after 3rd new battery, Airbag light is now on!, radio flashes and volume doesn't work, radio stopped working all together. Cd player flashes, car battery dies from the radio lights draining the battery. Interior lights by rear/view mirror turns on when car is off.

The car is possessed...or perhaps a short........There is a draw on the battery from a mystery source.pulled radio fuse in fear crazy non-working radio will drain 3rd battery..Seems these cars all have the same problem with NOOO cure! If anyone knows of the fix please call me at 727-251-5466...so I can cure this issue. We should request a recall......This car only has 52,000 miles. Looks brand new!

Sebring Lxi Convert V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 54,000 miles

Dashboard lights out was the first symptom. A month later the taillights went out, pointing to a possible fuse issue. Dealership service incompetence made the fix much worse and more expensive than it needed to be. The extended warranty for electrical had expired literally 2 months before. 1) They ordered a body control module for $580 without properly diagnosing a short. Since Chrysler will not allow computer codes for the BCMs out of their grubby dealerships hands, they had to have the car at dealer service (not my garage). Plugged in the new BCM and it blew up, dashboard smoking. 2) Ordered a new BCM and a cluster, also diagnosed bad fuse block. 3) Replaced the BCM, cluster and fuse block. Was told when radio reconnected, the dashboard lights went back out, so they took the radio out. In reprogramming the BCM and cluster, the dealer tech put in someone else's (lower) mileage, making the car illegal to sell. 4) Ordered BCM #2 and waited a day. They reprogrammed the correct mileage into the BCM only to find they also needed to reprogram the cluster. 5) Ordered cluster #2 (and BCM?) and waited a day. They re-reprogrammed the mileage correctly, and reconnected the radio. Miraculously the radio now worked fine. I got the car back at no additional charge; good thing. The PRICES for these components are OUTRAGEOUS. The INCOMPETENCE of the TECHs was STUNNING. No wonder the American car companies are going out of business! They SHOULD if it will get them to reorganize and improve. Minor problem made 3x worse than it had to be. I'll not buy an American car again unless I've got some financial protection!!

The radio blinks on and off. The oddest thing - when setting the Base control of the equalizer to below mid-point the entire radio goes off and looses power. The time resets to 12:00.

Sebring 2.7L V6

  • 100,000 miles

While the odometer reads 100,000 miles, the engine was replaced in this vehicle approximately 50,000 miles ago. At any rate, the instrument panel started flashing and all the gauges were going nuts (making it tough to know how fast I was going). I dropped the vehicle off at a dealership on Friday and they asked to keep it over the weekend so they could continue running tests. On Friday they told me the narrowed it down to one of two things (one being very expensive). Right now I'm waiting to hear if it's the instrument cluster or the overall electrical system for the vehicle (costing approximately $1,000). I am totally frustrated as I feel like I've had to fairly major issues with this vehicle.
