Sebring Touring 2.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 163,000 miles

Always full maintenance completed since buying the car in 2013 with 109k miles on it. Always driven like an old person, nice and slow acceleration, but would get up to cruise control 80ish mph on freeways. Always had very dirty sludgy oil when changed regularly with Mobil 1 full synthetic. Engine suspected to have failed do to timing chain and guides breaking, among other sludge damage.

Sebring Touring 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission

Engine ran fine with no issues. Car was regularly serviced and just had an oil change when a cylinder failed while driving with no warning lights. Engine has to be replaced.

Sebring Limited 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 151,000 miles

Bought this car brand new, took care of it from the start like a baby!

Followed all the recommended mechanical specs.

The engine blew, with no warning.

No service lights, or indicators.

Loved this car up until this point. The more I research, the more I see that this is a common issue with these engines.

Sebring 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 193,000 miles

The engine was beginning to lock up .When the car would not start, I called AAA to boost me off but they could not get it started. The engine would turn but not fast enough to start the engine. A NEIGHBOR OF MINE who had been a licensed mechanic for 40 years, stopped by and let me know what the problem was: ENGINE sludge which he had seen many times with that 2.7L engine. My only hope now (and I know it is very slim unless God gives me Divine, Supernatural Favor), is that He will touch the heart of the person I deal with at Chrysler and receive favor and get my car rolling again.

Sebring GTC 2.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,757 miles

The car engine (a 2.7L V6) locked up at 51,757 mi. due to a sludge accumulation problem. Chrysler is currently involved in a Class Action lawsuit regarding this engine in 4 states: California, Florida, Illinois, and New Jersey.

No oil pressure light ever came on until the engine froze. The car was purchased at Goldstein Chrysler-Jeep in Albany NY to which I took the car for repair. It was originally a rental which came from the state of Florida and was purchased by Goldsetein at auction.

Because we could not prove that we had properly maintained the engine (no receipts), they (Chrysler and Goldstein) would not honor the extended warranty (8/80,000) we purchased at an additional cost of $1000.

Bottom line: if we get it fixed, we're out another $4,000 - 7,000 on top of what we still owe, $6,500. GRAND TOTAL: anywhere from $10,500 - 13,500.
