problem #41

Windshield wipers activated usually after a turn was completed. This affected visibility of other vehicles. Also brakes and transmission failed. Dealer replaced four times the multi function switch/ brake pads/ rotors, and drums; transmission was replaced twice in the last two years, all at consumer's expense.

problem #40

Windshield wipers ceased to function unexpectedly. Was able to start by using windshield washer function. This was a temporary solution as wipers only operated for two or three cycles. Starting or stopping selection switch did not correct the defective operation.

problem #38

Oct 012002

Town & Country

  • 69,500 miles
Three failures between 40000-69,500 miles! windshield wipers are erratic. Some times operate by themselves, won't return to normal position, etc. Paid dealer to repair defective switch the first time, 'defective' motor the second time, and now have exact same problem again. I refuse to pay for repairs third time. Obviously a factory defect. ---dims 11 IVOQ entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis----769749.

Front windshield wipers activate for no reason. Sometimes they activate when you signal a turn. Most of the time they just come on when they jolly well decide to. Right sliding door locks have failed twice. I have attempted to get them repaired but have failed again after each repair.

problem #33

Both problems are perennial, in form I could not specify. Air bag light is always on and may fail in an accident; horn, by not working may not prevent an accident, it almost happened once already; cruise control is an inconvenience not having. Wipers go on by themselves, specially when turning on the blinkers. At times wipers don't stop and may divert your attention from traffic, it could be a dangerous situation.

problem #32

Jun 012000

Town & Country

  • miles
While driving down the road the windshield wipers started without warning and there was no way to stop them. On numerous occaisians this happens and when you use the intermitten feature the wipers stop anywhere on the windshield, not at the bottom as needed. I know of two other people with Chrysler vans who have identical problems with the wipers. Please investigate and get Chrysler to correct this safety deficiency.

problem #31

Dec 052000

Town & Country

  • miles
Air bag light permanently on due to failed clock spring assembly, air bags disabled, also affected horn and cuise control. Vehicle suffers from unusual power drains/fluctuations, battery replaced 3 times within 3 1/2 years. Electronic door locks (four doors) frequently fail, can only service when failure is consistent. Vehicle occasionally stalls (abruptly) at any speed, throttle system serviced a few times (outside of tune-ups) with little benefit. Front and rear windshield wipers activate by themselves quite often (but never at the service shop/dealership), with no set pattern, multifunction switch replaced twice. All problems except for air bag (customer paid for repair as well as for other problems) still persist.

Windshield wipers don't work correctly or don't come on at all. Dealer has failed to fix. Help!!! this is a safety hazard. I cannot see to drive in bad weather. I have had problems for months, the number of times was a guess. The dealer replaced the multifunction switch, repaired the wires, and replaced the wiper motor. None of these repairs fixed the problem. They did refund some of my money but I still cannot drive safely. Chrysler Corp. Should be made to recall this vehicle and repair at no charge to me. Thank you.

problem #25

1. automatic transmission failed at 62,038 miles, not under warranty. This seems to be an ongoing problem with Chrysler for which they have not assumed any financial responsibility. 2. wipers come on inexplicably. Per "lemon aid" web page, this problem is reported to be widespread with Chrysler vans. 3. power door lock on right rear passenger door locks and will not open automatically, either via driver control or remotely.
