I know this is an ongoing problem. I was lucky. No accident... Mine was a slow leak, then my warning light came on. I got my valve stem replaced (corroded) cost $225. Mechanic said I should get them all replaced as they are a know hazard. Light went out and it has relearned. A few days later I got a system warning (on my dash, like a oil change warning) no lights, but I can't clear it and there seems to be no way to clear it... Dealership said they won't clear it because they did not do the work. Even though I have the receipt from an authorized mechanic they still would not help me. So now, if I ever go to sell there is a warning light I can't get rid of... From reading this is a common problem but can't find any solutions. Very frustrating.

While driving down the highway the tire suddenly went flat causing it to completely come off the rim. Was able to keep contrrol and pull off the side of the road. Had it towed to NTB . Found that the valve stem failed. I stopped to get air in my tires at a gas station and as soon as I went to put air in the tire the valve stem broke in my hand. This could have a deadly outcome!
