1) the third row pier folding seats have twice been inadvertently activated by a child touching the button, and narrowly escaping being crushed by the folding seat. Also, the seat jammed in the half folded position and the dealership wanted $2600+ to fix it. The power folding seats are a death trap if someone cannot get out of the way when the button has been activated. 2) twice now, the electrical system has been flashing random codes- the tire pressure gauge when the tire pressure is fine, the ABS and traction light, and also weird MINIrough idles at very low speeds in heavy traffic. It is a repeat problem that the shop seems to only temporarily fix.

While driving at various speeds the van will shut off we will lose power steering and brakes you lose all power as if the key is off, I will jiggle the key and it will start back up or it will power up, you shift into nuetral and turn the key and start back up it is intermittent and it could happen while driving slow or driving 70mph down the highway.

The blind spot detection system has failed. Sensors in the rear bumper have failed causing the system to be inoperable. I have seen several similar complaints with the NHTSA for this vehicle filed under electrical, unknown and other. This safety feature failed at just over 50K miles on this vehicle. This failure occurred while the vehicle was in operation in light traffic on a city street. The service blind spot system message displayed on the dash where the speed of the vehicle is normally displayed and yellow warning lights appeared in each rear view mirror. Priced the parts at approx. $900 per sensor uninstalled. The system has been shut off at this time. This is a necessary safety feature for this large family vehicle with numerous blind spots. Numerous complaints related to these failing sensors (with the NHTSA and other consumer sites) indicate the part is inferior and/or has been installed by the manufacturer in an area (exposed underside of rear bumper fascia) where it is most susceptible to water and other corrosive elements.

Alternator went out at 86K. Known issue with exact same part # on other Chrysler products have been recalled. Van is in the shop now getting a $480 replacement installed plus 1.2 hours of labor for a part that if on another vehicle would be covered under an existing recall.

Warning lights on both mirrors for blind spot detection stay on always - with the ding ding ding sounds ringing on and off - weather driving down the road or sitting still parked, if the car is running, the problem is there. I believe this unsafe issue should be fixed by a recall, as it is a problem that is very unsafe & dangerous, many folks whom have purchased this vehicle are experiencing the same unsafe problem! I paid for this feature on the vehicle, to add safety and now it is causing just the opposite, unsafe driving conditions. This really concerns me, a safety feature failing on all these cars and especially at such low mileage. With this feature malfunctioning, it is much more dangerous than texting or talking on the phone while driving. What is the criteria to get a recall in place, do people have to have accidents or die to get a problem recalled, how is it decided.

I was driving our Town and country van on the interstate and was going to change lanes to my left. The blind spot detection did not come on to warn me that a car was there. Almost hit the other car. This has happened many times since. On 9-27-1014 driving out of the driveway at our house the blind spot detection did not pick up the garbage can on the side of the drive and hit the can causing $ $361.53 of damage. Told Chrysler but they said no recalls for this. Now the blind spot system is not working at all and the dash is dinging all the time. I see there was a recall for a 2009 Town and country van for this problem no. J01. Many people are complaining on the internet about this fix costing $ 2,000 at the dealer. Seems there should be a recall for this 2012 van as safety has been lost and crashes are expected to happen.
