Chrysler 2001 Voyager: 68K miles airbag warning light illuminated. Approximately 10 Nov 06, airbag alert light came on, intermittently. By 10 Dec 06, light is on constantly. Operation of steering wheel, seems to trigger event. From internet reading, it is easy to see that the clockspring is defective. This problem was highlighted in NHTSA recall notice of 02V293000, which doesn't cover my vehicle year. Evidently, it takes time for the failure mechanism to expose its self. I am requesting that the NHTSA extend the recall to more recent years, as Chrysler has not done anything to correct the problem, while passing the cost of repair of the defective part (safety related) to the customer.

The clock spring sensor failed without warning. As a result the airbag light stayed on. The consumer was concerned that the air bag may not deploy in the event of an accident. The consumer stated this was the second repair on the clock spring.
