Avenger SXT 2.4L

I haven't had this car for long and the first thing that happened was the car wouldn't come out of park, but I fixed that and then as soon as I finished, the key wouldn't come out of the ignition. I love dodge cars but now I'm second guessing myself about Chrysler. If anyone has or has had this problem and has a solution please HELP!
