Avenger V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

After going to the dealership for almost a year, I said I will never go there for anything else. After taking my car to King Tire and letting them find and fix the problem, boy I tell you, a long year of trouble. I have not yet to get help from the dealership unless I'm buying a vehicle.

Avenger 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,600 miles

My wife and daughter notice a very subtle "knocking" after the car had warmed up. On a recent day trip, I felt what they had spoken of and if you didn't know better you would have confused it with the feel of the road. As time progressed the said they could hear it more than they could feel it. Took it to the dealership and had them road test it but the tech couldn't feel or hear it, but we got it documented. My wife took the car in today to have them test drive it again, since it seems to be getting worse and the tech said he felt and heard it. He put it on the lift and said the right strut and control arm is worn excessively and need to be replaced. The decision was made to replace both struts and control arms and the repair will be warranty work because it was documented prior to the 36000 mile expiration of the warranty.

It appears this model has some major defects that tend to show up after the warranty has expired, 36000 is not a great deal of mileage and most of that being highway miles. Chrysler needs to snatch up the design engineers on this model and smack them about the head, neck and shoulders, also they need to extend the warranty on the Avenger to cover these EXPENSIVE repairs.
