A cross member is completely corroded/rusted apart next to where it attaches to the sway bar in my 2009 Dodge Caliber. The car is only 7 years old and yes, it has a lot of miles, however, it was well taken care of and . There is not any rust on the car other than underneath. The 2007 model has an extended warranty that was given for the same issue, which covers that unit for 10 years, and also allows the replacement of the cross member with unlimited mileage at no cost. Chrysler was contacted and they refuse to help with my 2009. Obviously, the 2009 models have the same problem as the 2007 and they should fix it the same.

As a note, the reason this was discovered was due to a rattle in steering wheel and brakes when slowing down. The car was initially taken to the mechanic thinking that there was a brake issue, but the brakes are fine. When the car was hoisted up and the wheel was taken off, it was very evident of an abnormal amount of rust. I am so disappointed in Chrysler.

Took my 2009 Caliber to my regular mechanic to fix some suspected suspension issues. He called me in to look at my sub frame which was rusted and corroded to a point that he deemed unsafe to drive. He advised me to contact the dealer and Chrysler Customer Service. Upon investigating I found that Chrysler extended the warranty on the 2007 Calibers for the same exact issue but Customer Service informed me that there was no extension on the 2009.
