Caravan LS 2.4L

Bought used from car lot. Had front seal replaced twice. Seal needs to be replaced again! The van should have been recalled for problem. I guess I will have it replaced again. When seal goes out again, I will drive it to the junkyard.

Caravan 4.0L

  • 42,000 miles

Crankshaft seal popped out again while driving...massive amount of oil coming out. Took it back to the same mechanic who replaced the seal for free. He did it himself this time and said the previous tech did not do as good a job as he would have hoped. He said it shouldn't happen again, but if it does it will need to be entirely rebuilt--$600. He suggested to "just sell the dang thing."

I'm sick of these big corporations taking advantage of us. After we purchase their products that were not properly assembled or poorly designed, they act as if its an isolated problem. Well I'm sick of it, I am looking to start a recall or class action lawsuit. but I need to know I am not alone.

Caravan SE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

I bought this Dodge Caravan SE in the end of 2006. In Jan 2010 the cars warranty just expired and the mileage was only 30000 miles, one day while I was driving car to pick my son for his football event, before the stop sign when I stop the car I found the engine oil warning light show up then I stop my car in the safe place and check the engine oil level and found most of oil has been lost. Then I contact the dealer and was told that warranty already expired and I had to sent this car to Kwik Kar Lube N Tune, The shop help me change the Crankshaft Seals and Camshaft seals then I think the problem should be fixed. But April 8 2011, the same problem happened again, I will report it in other separate complaint report.

Caravan SE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

After I get to parking lot to pick my 2006 Dodge Caravan SE, I found the large area engine oil leaked under my car then I drove the car to the closed Dodge dealer (about 0.5 mile distance) and was suggested to replace the new engine (about 4000.0 dollar). I did not accept that suggestion and sent my car to a car shop for checking. Then I was told that the Crankshaft and Camshaft seals failed again (that I just fixed at last year). The shop changed the seals for me and told me that this may the defects of engine because there are lot of similar problem have been reported by other customers and suggest me to complaint. Right now although the car has been fixed but I loose the confident to drive the car for traveling. I hope the car's manufacture can recall this kind of car.

crankshaft pops out of crankshaft seal

I paid $260. to put in a new seal, drove it home and the seal popped out again (see oil photo in the driveway AFTER being fixed). Took it back and the mechanic redid it, drove it and the leak continues. This is a pain in where I sit because my wife and I only have one car!

still not fixed tried several times to replace the seal and keeps on popping. Very frustrated. The crank shaft is on national back ordered. I don't understand why they don't recall the car. That's telling me there's other people having this problem.
