Dakota 4WD 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles
The cruise control on my 2004 Dodge Dakota quad cab accelerates going down hill. I've had it to the dealer who indicates this is a common problem with this vehicle and similarly equipped durangos. They tell me that there is no fix. I, then, contacted daimler Chrysler customer assistance and received a call from a nice lady who told me that Dodge was not aware of the problem and referred me to another Dodge dealership. I contacted them. They suggested that I go back to the original dealer and find out if they had contacted dealer support. They did and were told that Dodge is indeed aware of the problem but isn't going to fix it. I contacted daimler Chrysler customer assistance and received an apology, but no indication that they will do anything to improve the safety of my vehicle.

This is my 2nd submission (ODI #10116332); no result first time. The cruise control on my 2004 Dodge Dakota quad cab truck accelerates going downhill. I have had it into the dealership four times now, they can't find what is wrong, and say it "performs as designed". it's supposed to accelerate going downhill?!

Dakota 4WD 8-cyl Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,000 miles
Cruise control would engage itself intermittently while driving at high speed. Vehicle had been to the dealer on two separate occasions, and they were unable to locate cause of the problem. Also, a loud popping sound was heard while braking. Dealer was notified. Dealer replaced both rotors and brake light 4 times due to moisture build up. However, problem recurred.
