Dakota V8

I've had my Dakota for 2 years now and during a routine oil change, the mechanic noticed excessive corrosion on my battery. I thought that was odd considering I had a 2003 Dakota for 3 years and never had an issue. What really threw up the alarms was when my father, who has a 2006 Dakota as well, was experiencing a corrosion issue as well. His got bad enough that the truck wouldn't turn over and he had to remove the scissor switch he added 6 months ago in order to clear the terminals well enough to get the juice back. Truly an odd experience considering my truck stays in Colorado while my Dad's has been from CO to AZ, TX and up to western Canada.

The dealer says I should just put an anti corrosion product on it but it seems to be a bigger issue if 2 trucks are having the same difficulties. Anyone have a similar issue?
