Durango SLT 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

I had one Caliper seize up on the dodge about 6 months ago, and then last week the other one seize up. Fortunately, I was close to home and able to get home without damaging the rotor or brakes pads. Dodge factory calipers are not very good so if you start having problems with one caliper go ahead and change both.

Durango SXT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25 miles

Drivers side front brake began seizing up at around 25k - rotor was shot. Replaced caliper, rotors, & pads with better quality Bosch components from Murray's Auto. Began to happen again, around 50k. Replaced rotors and pads again (Murrays replaced these parts under warranty). Now have about 68K & drivers side still occasionally overheating.

Have been waiting for warmer weather to tear into it again.

Anyone have any ideas?

Durango R/T

  • 29,756 miles

My husband and I purchased our "newest" car 2 months ago.... a 2002 Dodge Durango R/T (may I mention my husband is a "die hard Ford man" and it took alot of pursuading for him to even buy this dodge?) Like I said we've only owned it 2 months and last weekend took it on our first trip.... only 200 miles (round trip) to the NC mountains for Easter weekend. We got to the mts about lunch time and by 4 pm my truck was on a flat bed truck going to the dealership. The passangers side front brakes had locked up solid. We were told at the dealership that it would take a few days being a holiday weekend and all. We called Diama Chrystler and were told they couldn't (wouldn't) help us with a rental car (they didn't do that) and left us strandled in the mts.

After our weekend, we headed home (thanks to the kindness of friends, who lent us their car) Wednesday am we got a call from the dealership that our truck was ready to pick up..... My husband and I both got off work at lunch and made the trek back up the mountain to retrieve our dodge.

When we get there my husband (being the GOOD HUBBY HE IS) checked the work and found they had charged us for new rotors, but still had the old, cracked, warped rotors on the truck. Back into to dealership it went...... and hour later we were on the road.

Just as we were getting into our hometown I started to smell something familiar. I called my husband (who was following me back) and asked if he smelled something, he said yes so we pulled over to find the drivers side brakes has locked up...... yes my truck broke down twice with in 200 miles with the same problem.

Well today is exactly 1 week from the first break down..... my truck is in again another dealership and they tell me it's gonna be another week before they get parts.......

I'll update you on how long I get to drive it this time...... needless to say ....... My husband is loving the fact that he's a ford man....... his 1997 Expidetion has 171,000 miles and still running...... we're even taking it on our 2,000 vacation next week..... we were gonna take the Dodge, but we're afraid.... do you blame us?
