On July 8, 2005 at 6:30 am, I opened my car door to go to work and there had been afire inside the car during the night, causing extensive damage to the interior. Had the car towed to my state farm approved repair center. After repairs were started, the cause of the fire was determined by the repair shop to be a wire under the seat that was for electric seats which is not an option in my car. Dodge was notified and they said to stop repairs until they sent an inspector to look at car. He came the following week and determined Dodge was not at fault and sealed the file and was told to retain a lawyer if I wanted to find out why, otherwise too bad. I found a recall on 2001 Dodge Ram that was for the same exact problem and 2 reported such fires in 2001 Durangos. My case is not an isolated incident and Dodge refuses to take care of the problem. The NHTSA id is 01V253000. Obviously Dodge did nothing to correct the problem and has not recalled the 2002 Dodge. Please help me. Valerie davis.
