When filling the gas tank a large amount of gasoline spits out after the fuel nozzle clicks off. I first thought is was a defect with the fuel nozzle. But it continues to happen each time I fill up. This is very dangerous and could cause serious injury or death in the event of a fire or explosion. There are several videos on ytube which clearly show this problem. When this occurs the vehicle is stopped at the service station with the engine and ignition is off. I have researched and found the Chrysler has a recall on this problem but VIN is not included. The recall should include all vehicles that have this problem. Pleas advise on what can be done to get Chrysler to rectify this dangerous problem at their expense. Thank you. This problem first occurred in November 2016 and has continued each time I fill up.

2005 Dodge Durango. Consumer writes in regards to the fuel tank inlet valve recall notice issues. The consumer stated he has been trying for more than 18 months to get Chrysler to honor the recall. To date, with no success. Right after purchasing the vehicle, the consumer began to experience a serious problem with gas spilling out of the tank as it was being filled. The problem subsequently returned and the dealer gave him cosmetic explanations. After the vehicle, nearly caught on fire, it prompted the consumer to investigate and he soon discovered a recall had been issued for the same problem he experienced.

Every time I went to fill the gas tank it had a delay overflow. Started out with about a cup of gasoline and then increased to about 3/4 of a pint and this is even when filling very slowly. I checked online and found that there had been a recall on Durango's in 2005 for gas tanks overflowing because of a defective check valve. When I contacted the dealer he said that recall did not apply to my VIN number?. I do not see how that can be. I have owned many cars over 40 years and never had one overfill the fuel tank and splash all over you.

I can not fill up my vehicle all the way because fuel spews out before the pump shuts off. I have contacted the dealer and they will not look at it as a defect or recall anymore. I have to pay for it. I do not think that this right because this is a very serious security hazard. This issue is clearly a serious problem and could cause serious injuries or even death if an ignition source happened to blow nearby. I think the dealer should fix it free of charge. I know that there has been a recall on this before so the dealer should fix any issue that comes up concerning all factory defects and/or recalls regardless of how long it has been.

Having 3 major issues that can be life threatening..1) driving at any speed sometimes vehicle will completely shut off leaving me on the highway at 60mph no power steering 2) filling gas tank up no matter if I go slow will always spit lots of gas back out of the neck 3) 4X4 is engaging by itself. I can park it turn motor off and you can hear it going into 4X4 without me being in the vehicle or touching the 4X4 knob. This has cause me issue steering when it decides to go into 4X4 mode by itself. I need to know if their is current complaints about the above issues and how can I get them fix without me paying.

I have a 2005 Dodge Durango 4.7L and when filling the gas tank the gas splashes out when the pump shuts off. Even when pumping slowly it still comes out of the filler neck and onto the ground. If pumping faster it tends to shoot up and out. This is a hazard and needs to be fixed asap.there is a recall out for this problem on the 2005 Durango but mine is not one of the VIN numbers that qualifies. The dealer says the entire gas tank needs to be replaced due to the check valve getting stuck and not closing properly. I have read several forum sites where other people have the same issue and Chrysler is not replacing those parts.

When I'm driving in traffic (approx 30-45 mph) or stopped at a light, my vehicle randomly shuts off. There's no indication this will happen. No lights flash or anything. The truck simply stops. I take it to mechanics and they say they can't identify the problem--but they recognize there's a problem. I'm fearful for the safety of my family in the vehicle and/or anyone we encounter when this happens. It's nearly impossible to steer the vehicle out of traffic, and the steering locks up as well. I've had the cooling system flushed, transmission replaced to no avail. Is there a recall on this thing?! there sure should be! I'm sure someone has died by now due to this malfunction.

2 problems: 1) even though our local dealership is insistent that we don't have a recall, I can see a recall on your page about windshield wiper motors. Our wipers come on every time we start the vehicle, and they work sporadically. Sometimes while they're on, they won't come on at all, as mentioned in the recall information. Why isn't mine covered? 2) biggest problem: Several times (upwards of ten times) I have been going slow, usually making a turn, and my engine stalls. I have to turn the key off and then restart, and I'm okay again. Took it to a mechanic in the last part of July/first part of August last year, and he replaced the fuel pump. It didn't occur again until December, while we were on vacation- we were slowly going up a hill and it stalled. Had to turn the key off and then re-start it. It hadn't done it again until a couple days ago. It did it three times in one day, then has been doing it each day since. I'm really afraid that the Durango is going to die in the middle of traffic and I'll get hit. I have four young kids, and I am panicked thinking about having to drive it with them inside, because I'm afraid that we're going to get hit and hurt. It's so scary that I'm tempted to trade it in- though I can't really afford it, we just bought this thing used last year. I'm wondering if it did this for the previous owners as well. There are complaints all over the internet about this same problem, but no fix for it. Even if I could get a mechanic to tell me what it is and fix it, I'd do that, but nobody seems to know what the answer is. It's obviously a huge safety issue!! please help!!

When refueling vehicle, fuel gushes out of fuel filler tube violently. This occurs no matter what speed fuel is pumped into tank. I see that 2 recalls affect this condition in this model year vehicle but the recalls seem to affect only a portion of vehicles for this model year. My vehicle appears to have been manufactured in April 2005. This appears to place it between the 2 groups of vehicles covered by the recall. I went to a Chrysler dealer on 3-5-14 and was told that my vehicle is not covered by the recall. Why aren't all vehicles affected with this problem covered. Seems to be very unsafe to have a large quantity of gasoline ejected from the filler each time it is fueled. The incident date I indicated above is the date I purchased the vehicle. I have no knowledge of problems the previous owner encountered, it was owned from new by a local police department.

I am having an issue with the fuel tank when I am filling up the truck, when fueling, the pump handle will click off and then fuel will shoot out of the fuel tank all over the place. I have never seen or experienced this issue ever before and it is quite alarming when you gas up and end up covered in gasoline not to mention the fact I am spilling gasoline all over at the pump, I feel this is a liability because of fuel spills and the fact it could potentially start a fire. I have seen several recalls on this issue and also several reviews as to Chrysler/Dodge not helping to repair the problem, this is why I was told to start here with a formal complaint.
