The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Durango. The contact stated her son was driving at 60 mph, when the windshield wipers automatically activated without warning and then the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was unable to be restarted. The contact's son pushed the vehicle to the side of the road. The contact's son attempted to jump start the vehicle but was unsuccessful after seeing smoke. The vehicle was towed to hartsville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram located at (900 E. bobo newsom hwy, hartsville, SC 29550) for a diagnosis. The diagnosis was a defective alternator and a burnt out power train control module. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V435000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
