Durango Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 112,000 miles

No accident or airbag deployment, however, spontaneously my driver side headrest deployed! Impossible to repair on our own. This could have cause a horrible accident had it occurred while driving. To have it replaced is upwards of $700+. I'm not the only one this has happened to and this needs to be recalled and repaired at the manufacture's cost.

headrest plastic mount broke, and it exploded open headrest plastic mount broke, and it exploded open headrest plastic mount broke, and it exploded open

While my daughter was driving w/a friend in the passenger seat the passenger seat's headrest "exploded". The passenger thought they had been involved in a wreck and screamed, my daughter thought they had been shot at because the noise sounded like a gunshot and ran off the road because of the distraction.

Upon inspection of the headrest, it became apparent a plastic mount had broken holding a release pin which caused the failure of the headrest. It is inconceivable to me Chrysler/Fiat hasn't recalled this item. I have a 2013 Durango too and will be installing straps around both of it's headrests as well as the driver's headrest on the 2014. This is dangerous. Had it occurred while traveling down the interstate at 70 mph causing her to run off the road, serious injury could have resulted.
