Grand Caravan SXT 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission

Very worried about trying to replace the blubs. Each time they are installed in less than an hour the overhead console area is getting HOT, so my son removed the blubs. I now have to use a flashlight to see what is in my front seat area. I'm very concerned about this issue because I had a fire in the 09's with my 88 eagle Priemer, it caught on fire after having the driver's window relay replaced. I REALLY LOVED THAT CAR. It was prefect to carry mom and her wheelchair. I should mention I've been reluctant to get any defects/issues that I have to pay for because I'M A DISABLED DETROIT CITY WORKER (8/99); WAITING TO SEE HOW MUCH MORE OF MY CITY OF DETROIT PENSION WILL I HAVE TO GIVE UP TO LIVE IN DETROIT.

I noticed that the overhead console light on the driver's side was slightly dim and thought the bulb needed to be replaced. It flickered and went out one morning on my way to work.

My husband and I attempted to replace the bulb to find the plastic housing that held the bulb was melted and the metal shield around the bulb was discolored. I was concerned that the van was a fire hazard.

We took the van to the dealership. They replaced the lamp and surrounding housing. So far, so good...
