Grand Caravan SXT

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,000 miles

A Very significant issue and a MAJOR Safety Issue making the vehicle "Non-useable" after fueling the vehicle. Has happened numerous times to my wife and myself. Have used the same gas station for over 10 years and for multiple vehicles with this being the only vehicle affected. Why does Dodge not take responsibility for the malfunction and effect the proper repair. Placing the burden on the owner to replace the entire gas tank at the previously stated $700 for a "part" that could be replaced is stupid. Dodge HELP US! We helped you when we bought your vehicles. Where is the support?

Grand Caravan V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 109,000 miles

A few weeks after we bought a used van it started dying about a block away from the gas pump. Several times this had me stopped in traffic! I started pulling out of the way and just sit for 5 minutes in case it would die. Used a gas treatment and thought/hoped it would solve the problem since maybe the van had been sitting a while. Has not stopped and hear it may be connected with power steering issues which we are having now also. It never occurred to us to check sites for recalls and complaints but it will be something we do from now on! Neither issue resolved just want to get the info out there and will let you know how it turns out.

Grand Caravan STX 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 154,000 miles

The engine bucks and sometime stalls immediately after fill-up. This happens when the tank is more than 1/2 empty. After start up (which is no issue) the vehicle runs fine. This is a periodical issue.

Grand Caravan SXT 3.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,000 miles

This problem with the engine cutting out or running rough after filling the gas tank has occurred multiple times and gotten worse over the months. I thought it was bad gas the first few times but it happens regardless of where I fill up. I searched tonight and found other people complaining of the same problem. The repair is apparently to replace a control valve fuel shutoff float but that seems inappropriate since it only occurs after filling the tank.

I think Dodge should be forced to issue this as a recall since not knowing whether it will occur or not could cause you to reenter traffic lanes and find yourself in a car that won't run in the midst of oncoming vehicles.
