problem #2

Feb 092015

Grand Caravan SXT 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 135,000 miles

Key Fobs began to intermittently fail to start the van about a year ago. Replace Fobs with aftermarket ones. Worked for six moths or so, but then same problem. Finally vehicle would fail to start at all. Took it to local Royal Gate Dealer who replaced the WIN Module. Even though the WIN module was under a recall, the dealer replaced at my expense (funny how that complies with NHTSB guidelines). Sent receipt and recall to Chrysler and got a call this week saying they want to delay refunding me my money. Their position is the fix may be as ineffective as the original equipment and may need to also be replaced. They want to wait to see if this part fixes the problem (funny how that complies with NHTSB guidelines). Should you experience problems with the Fobs, have the dealer check it and have him also check the vehicle for recall L-25.

Grand Caravan SE 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

Vans been setting there and gives error message "bad key." Took to dealership and they don't know but they think it could be the computer or some other computerized part! Want $2,000! After further investigation, I diagnose problem to be the WIN module which appears to go out on a lot of Dodge products from this era, including Chargers, Journey's, etc.
