Returning home from vacation while exiting interstate to merge with oncoming traffic at approx 60/65 mph I tapped the brake to disengage the cruise control and the vehicle to accelerate rapidly. I applied the brakes with all my force but it continued to accelerate. I was finally able to get it to the side of the road put it into park and shut the engine off., in a few minutes I restarted the motor and the car seemed ok. We drove a short way and stopped at a hotel for the night. The next morning as we started home the vents suddenly began to blow out very hot air. Neither the heat, air or fans were on. After pushing the HVAC buttons no ne of which were lighted the air suddenly stopped. I turned the air back on in a few minutes and everything worked. We drove to our dealer hendersonville cdrj and got an appt for this fri morning. The man didn't seem to have any idea of the problem. On our way home the horn started to beep intermittently for a few seconds at a time. We have not driven since then and will not until we take it back to the dealer on Friday.xwe are a retired senior couple, my husband is disabled and this van is our only vehicle and it is frightening to have been placed in such a very dangerous situation. Hopefully the dealer will be able to identify and correct this problem.

When the vehicle is cold, and after I start driving, if I do no have my foot on the accelerator, the engine will just die. When it does, there are no warning lights go on and the steering becomes completely unresponsive. I must quickly put the car in neutral and start it again. It can happen multiple times before the engine warms up. It can just happen going down the road. I have had it to the dealer and another auto repair place and neither can figure out what is wrong. This happens quit often.

Grand Caravan 6-cyl

On 1/18/20010 I experienced uncontrolled acceleration of my 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. The vehicle was serviced at galeana dodget, ft. Myers fl on 1/24. I was told that fuel induction parts needed cleaning and that would resolve the problem. On 1/24 after only 377 miles since service I experienced the problem again. I was in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway driving about 45 mph. When I began moving to the far left lane and bring the vehicle up to the posted speed of 50 mph I noticed the gas pedal depress beyond my intention. I attempted to stop acceleration by applying the brakes to no effect. It slowed the rate of acceleration which resumed as soon as I released the brake. As the highway busy I had a hard time controlling the car and pulling back to the right lane so I could safely stop the car on the shoulder when I turned the ignition off. When I restarted the car the engine continued to race at over 4,000 rpms. Eventually after several times starting and stopping the ignition the engine returned to appropriate idle speed. As we were in a dangerous place and close to the place we were staying (on vacation) and did not know who to call I drove the car pack and parked it waiting instructions from Dodge on how to proceed. At this time I am afraid to drive the car as we had a very harrowing experience. Problem previously reported at a gasoline fuel system problem as that is the way the repair shop described it.

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. The contact stated that the vehicle suddenly accelerated but he was able to keep it under control by depressing the brake pedal. The next day, another driver of the vehicle noticed the vehicle suddenly accelerated so she shifted out of gear and turned the vehicle off. The next time the vehicle was restarted, the rpms shot up to 3000. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and a diagnostics test was performed. The dealer performed software upgrades and returned the vehicle to the contact. In February 2010, the contact noticed the acceleration problem again so she went into an emergency lane. The vehicle was returned to the dealership and the dealer told them that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer and was awaiting response from a case manager. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current mileage was approximately 5,400. The failure mileage was 3,202-bk
