Had the the car towed to don jordan Chrysler dealership and was told by the man in the service dept that I would need to replace the engine at a cost of 7.000 plus tax. Intrepid 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,406 miles
While driving to work I heard a knocking sound in the vehicle. I drove the vehcile home on my lunch hour for my husband to look at it. I turned the car off and it would not restart. We had it towed to the dealership and the mechanic initially stated that it may have been the timing chain. After he further inspected the vehicle, we were told that there was sludge in the engine. This vehicle has regular oil changes so this didn't make sense to us. Also, there were no oil lights or engine problem warning lights to indicate a problem. The manufacturer refused any assistance with the repair that was to cost $6700.

Engine began making a clicking sound while driving on the highway at 55mph. Ase certified master technician looked at the vehicle and said that I need a new engine as it is about to cease up due to oil sludge build-up which is common in this particular engine. I maitained my vehicle with routine oil changes and services through my father, who is an ase certified master technician for over 35 years. I feel that DaimlerChrysler corporation should be held accountable for these deffective engines.
