I have bought my 2010 Dodge Journey used, it only had 88,000 miles on it. 5 months after owning it had to have the brakes replaced. I paid out of my own pocket. Then 3 months later, brakes failed again. By this time it had 95,000 miles on it. Then 3 months later failed again. Had 110,000 miles and again failed at 118,000 miles. Replaced again, failed yet again at 125,000 miles, and again failed at 133,000 miles. I should not have to replace the brakes every 5,000 to 12,000 miles. I just want Dodge to fix the problem. It keeps costing me money every time they have to be replaced.

I purchased this vehicle used in March of 2013. I have had to replace the brakes every single year and the rotors at least every other year. I quit taking it to a Dodge dealership because they tried to tell me the rear calipers were not working and that was my front brakes were wearing out in less than a year's time. I took my vehicle to a different mechanic and was told the calipers were completely fine. I was shown were the normal wear and tear was by the calipers. This mechanic also said the rotors were in horrible shape and did not look less than a year old. So either the Dodge dealership didn't replace them like they charged me for or they used shotty parts on the vehicle just so I would have to come back more often. The mechanic I am taking my car to now uses top of the line parts and I got about 14 months out the brake pads. When the brakes begin going out, it also affects the ABS and stability control system. I will never by another Journey again, despite how much I love the style of this vehicle!

I was told the Braking System is inadequate for the vehicle, as the Manufacturer put in a Braking System for a regular car, not for the added weight and distribution of a SUV. I had new Brakes put in 3 times since buying the car in 2013! The cost has been astronomical, and they still grind, squeal and make horrible noises!

This car has been a royal pain for us. It is less than six years old and this is now the third time we are replacing the brakes. All three times it has been at different Chrysler dealerships. Not once has any of them mentioned that the brakes are inadequate or that there has ever been any support from Chrysler on the costs. Each time the report from the technician is the same. The pads are worn down to under 2mm, the rotors are rusted, pitted and overheated. In all cases they tell me that this is a safety issue. If Dodge is telling me it is a safety issue then they should step up before someone is killed. The first two times were two and four years ago. Clearly the Journey is a lemon. I have not had a good experience with it all around.

I bought this car brand-new in Oct., 2010. I drive it sparingly, as it still only has 21,500 miles on it as of June, 2016 (averaging less than 4,000 miles per year), and I had to completely replace my brake components (ceramic pads, rotors and calipers) at 19,500 miles. At great expense, I might add. This is a travesty that I couldn't believe until I saw the utterly destroyed rotors as my car was on the mechanic's rack! I have never "ridden" my brakes, nor have I ever had to brake hard (thank God), as I'm not sure I'd be here to report this horrible design flaw on this make and model vehicle. Dodge needs to step up and do a full recall and replace affected vehicles with brake components appropriate for the weight of the Journey.

I only had the Journey for two years, and in the first winter I found out how well f*king quick that the Journeys brakes don't perform so well on ice and snow. The brakes are too small for the vehicle and you have to pump the sht out of your brakes to get it to stop. That is dangerous as hell and can result in a collision, and even injury and death. They should have recalled the f**king Journeys back by now, but no, they want us to pay for new brake and rotors out of pocket. It's in all 2009 and 2010 Journeys, they have brake issues and the only way to fix the issue is buy third party slotted rotors with ceramic pads.

I have had the same problems as most owners of 2009 and 2010 Journey brake system. There is a KNOWN problem that Chrysler failed at their first attempt of a cross-over vehicle. They have admitted to putting insufficient braking systems on these vehicles, yet refuse to fix the problem - stating it's "normal wear and tear". Having to put THREE sets of brake pads AND ROTORS on a vehicle in 5 years (under 60,000 miles) is NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.

When I took it in the dealer "grinded" the rotors and when I asked about the replacing it they said that Dodge told them that they only needed to grind them not replace them and that they were not recalled. I bought my 2010 Dodge Journey new after an accident totaled out my previous vehicle. I am a single mom with one vehicle for our family of 4 and thought this would be a good safe vehicle for my family. Quite the opposite! I have spent so much money on this car for repairs, have had 2 recall issues (one of which left me and one of my daughters stranded on the side of the road at night), and have also had to replace the brakes, rotor, caliper, more times than I can remember. The last time was in Feb. and now my car has already recently started shaking again when I apply the brakes. I have only driven about 9,000 miles since replaced last. There has to be a design issue with this vehicle that is causing the brakes to go bad so quickly.
