Bought a 2010 dodge journey new and starting Nov. 2015 the engine would randomly stall while driving. Thought is was a fluke and it started again in April 2016 several times and took it to dealership. They said they couldn't find the issue and gave the car back. Happened in May and then June several times and I took it back in for 4 days and they said they did not know why it was doing that and returned the car back to me again. It started again in September along with the horn going off randomly and the battery dead every morning. They fixed the horn and battery issue (Which took 2 weeks) because they couldn't fix the issue until it happened to them (which is did after a week of them having it). Now in December my car has stalled out while driving 3 times this week and I am pissed!!!!! Almost got rear ended because of it. I have no idea what to do at this point and I am afraid of a serious accident at this point with my children in the car!

I have a 2010 Dodge Journey 2.4 litre. Sometimes it will start and hesitate and then stall. Sometimes it will start and soon as you put it in drive or reverse it will stall. Village Chrysler can't figure it out. I'm wondering.

Journey LX V6

THE VERY FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I WAS GOING AROUND A CURVE AND IT JUST SHUT OFF. THE STEERING BECAME HARD TO HANDLE, SO I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND STARTED IT BACK UP. THE OTHER THREE OR FOUR TIME GOING ACROSS MACON RD, IT STOPPED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. AND THE CAR STOPPED UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO START IT AGAIN.

THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS I COULD BE KILLED AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AT NO FAULT OF MY OWN. IT HAS CUT OFF WITH MY GOING ACROSS THE BRIDGE WITH MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. I TRIED TO TALK TO THE PEOPLE AT THE DODGE PLACE AND WAS TALKED TO SO NASTY, THAT I DID NOT CALL BACK. I CALLED THE ONE EIGHT HUNDRED NUMBER AND SPOKE WITH SOMEONE THERE ABOUT THE PROBLEM. STILL NEED IT TO BE TAKEN CARE OF.

Since July 2014, I need to warm up my journey more than 5 minutes before I can ride my car on the road. Otherwise my car will stall when I back up and brake the car or stop the car at the stop sign and intersection . I bring my car to the dealer on the week of October 20 2014. They scan the car but cannot find out the problem. they told me I need the throttle body and Fuel injection serviced. Costs me 360.00 dollars. Next day I bring the car and told them that I still have the same problem. I left my car at the dealer. In the afternoon, they call me and told me that the engineer light that is on is P0300. I need the do the service, that costs me 260.00. But the problem is still not fixed.I try to call the Chrysler customer service to complain about the problem. They call me back told me that the dealer which I bring the car in to cannot solve the problem. Maybe I can bring to other dealer to have the other suggestion. I told them that that will keep costing me a lot of money.

Journey FWD SXT

I purchased gas today (gold), went to work, as I left in the evening like always I crank to car to warm up. I sat in the front for a co worker I take to the train and again it cut off with her. This is the 4th time. I am nervous for it is late at night. I have been to the dealership were I purchased at least 3 times and the Landmark dodge because it was not happening then they sent me away. I don't know what's wrong and money is tight. I purchased this car in good faith, and they should take the warranty.

Update from Nov 8, 2014: Car is still shutting down so I did some research and found it maybe the temp sensor, it was not but my check engine light came on and the code said the temp sensor, just don't know what to do because also now Chyrsler refuses to change the recall ignition because it was done in 2011 by the previous owner, and now my warranty is expired. pray I do not get killed

Update from Mar 27, 2018: I've had my EGR valve replaced and haven't had a problem for months

Car shut off when my wife was driving at 65 mph. Brought car to dealer, they had it for a while until they finally figured out how to deal with the problem. Told that had to much weight on key chain. I guess having the key fob and a house key is too much weight. Never was given any explanation of cause. Real pain in the ass.

Journey STX 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission

This is the third occurrence of the engine just quitting while driving down the highway. After the first occurrence, the dealer could not find a problem. 2 days later after receiving the car from the dealer, the engine quit again. Took the car back to the dealer for the second time. This time they kept it for one week and stated that they found the problem in the main fuse box. I have had the car back for almost 1 month and today it did it again 3 times. The car just quits. After about 2 mins, it will start again. I will take it back to the dealer again tomorrow. I have also read that the 2010 Journey has a recall for this problem stemming from a faulty key switch. Seems like the dealer would have known this the first time I took it in. I intend on telling them this when I take it in for the third time for this same problem.
