Journey SXT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 74,700 miles

I purchased the 2017 Journey used and have it now for 1.5 years. This car has been well maintained, frequent oil changes, etc and never a problem. Most of the miles are highway miles going frequently from Atlanta to Tampa.

Today, the car won't start. It doesn't even try to start. I put my foot on the brake, which feels a bit hard, and hit the button, all the lights are bright but the engine does nothing. The radio, AC, turn signals, brights, everything works, except the engine. I'm almost certain it's not the battery since I've read of others having this issue on a consistent basis even after they replace the batteries one after another. Other users of this site have the same issue, but no answers so far.

Journey SXT 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

I purchased a used 2017 Dodge Journey SXT. As of 2/22/2019, it will make one year since I purchased it. For the last several months, I have had numerous issues with the car not starting. The lights come on bright and everything appears to be fully charged. But when the vehicle goes to start, it just clicks. If I use jumper cables or a booster pack to jump start it, they don't even have to be on for a certain time to charge the battery. The car seems to automatically start right up just as soon as I make a connection with the jumper cables.

What I don't understand is how it starts the car as fast as I can push the button. It's as if there is some type of circuit or sensor or some kind of electrical problem that is not letting the car start. But yet that little extra spark from a jump turns the car right over. I have had the battery replaced 3 times in the last 4 months. And I refuse to believe that I have gotten that many bad batteries.

The dealer cannot find anything nor can any of the other car places I have taken to. The battery, charging system and everything that has been checked has come back clean showing absolutely no problems But yet the next morning when I come out to start it, the vehicle is dead. I also have noticed that my dash lights will continue to cycle off and on endlessly. And I feel the car isn't completely shutting down which is causing the battery to go dead.

Funny that the other half has a Journey that does the same thing but has never had the first issue with her care. I could go on about this forever with all the places I have taken it to for it to be looked at. Nobody has ever found anything wrong. Yet every morning, the jumper cables are the first thing I grab as I go to start my car. Can someone please give me any help or suggestions? PLEASE!!!
