Deflector shield protected tank. 3) truck was towed on a flatbed by aaa to repair facility. $112 X 2 straps + labor = $250 repair. Truck unavailable for 2 days.

While driving 70 mph driver heard a rattling sound. Driver pulled over, got out, and smelled fumes. To his surprise the fuel tank had detached from the truck and was dragging on the road. Mechanic was amazed that the fuel tank didn't burst into flames because of a fist sized hole. The straps that support the fuel tank were never found, and the part was no longer being manufactured.
